My version of the Pottery Barn Easter basket

I love the PB Easter baskets!  They are so cute but so expensive.  The small basket is $24.50, the cheapest liner is $10 and the embroidery is $6.50.  So the least you'd spend on one is $41.00 + shipping.  Ya, I get that the kids can use them from year to year but I just wasn't willing to pay that much.  So what did I do?  I made my own for $10.00!  That's right $10.00.  Would you like to know how?

All of the products are from Michaels.  The basket with liner was $10, felt was $0.29, and the appliques were $1.70.  I had the craft glue already but that would cost only another $2.00

You will see a paper in the basket with Liam printed on it.  All I did was choose a font that I liked and then made it the appropriate size for the basket.  I cut out each letter and pinned it onto a square of felt.

Cut around each letter carefully.  This was the hardest and most time consuming part.  Here are all of the letters cut out.

Next measure the basket to find the middle so you know where to place the name.  Put a pin in as a marker.

Now you are ready to stick the letters on.  Use the craft bond (shown above) and spread some over the entire back of the letter.  Starting with the middle letter, stick it to the liner and then work your way out so the letters stay straight and even.  Don't worry if some of the glue comes though the felt, it dries clear.  Now, remember that the glue is permanent once it dries, so you won't have too much time to move the letter if you make a mistake.  Next, you can use the appliques if you wish.  Glue them on in the same manner that you did the letters.  The applique that I purchased had little bunnies and carrots.  I used a small carrot to "dot" the "i".  Any, voila, you are finished.  I think it turned out really pretty!

Make sure you let the glue dry for 24 hours, but after that it is permanent and washable (see back of glue bottle for washing instructions). 

Liam came up and saw it just as I was finishing and said "WOW, WOW, WOW!"  That's all I needed to hear.
